Digital or Computer forensics (sometimes known as computer forensic science) is a branch of Digital Forensic Science pertaining to legal evidence found in computers and digital storage media. The goal of computer forensics is to analyse digital media in a forensically sound manner with the aim of identifying, preserving, recovering, analyzing and presenting facts and opinions about the information. Forensic Computing is the collection, preservation, analysis, and presentation of computer-based evidence.
Digital Evidence can be invaluable in criminal cases, civil disputes, commercial litigation, insolvency action and human resources/employment proceedings either as primary evidence used in the commission of the offence, or as supporting evidence providing an alibi (or not as the case may be).
Far more information is retained on a computer and other digital media than most people realise. It is also more difficult to complete remove information than is generally thought. For these reasons (and many more), forensic computing can often find evidence of, or even completely recover, lost or deleted information, even if it was intentionally deleted.
Your digital evidence will be analysed by highly skilled Experts using a range of ‘state of the art’ forensic tools, allowing us to provide you with a comprehensive picture of what the computer has or hasn’t been used for. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not analyse the data in isolation but will review the case in it’s entirety, allowing us to produce a more comprehensive and relevant report.
We also offer individually tailored services including ‘document authentication’ – establishing when and how a specific document was created and any modifications, and ‘text searches’ to retrieve specific documents.
